I ALT ENTER to get the game back to full screen, but Id love to be able to keep the game in a window so I can more easily navigate between elements on my desktop. open nf (there is a shortcut to it in the startmenu) now there are more than one way to accomplish this. ![]() These screen shots (of Doom) represent a small section of the full game screen, and have been blown up 200% to better show how the image is being altered. I use ALT TAB to let the mouse explore my screen space across monitors, which is great, but then the game is in this really tiny window. For correct image proportions you may need to set: aspect=true. But Dosbox displayed it in fullscreen with a 16:9 ratio, it stretched the game on my 16:9 screen, very uggly with poor performance. For example, if a game works in 320x200, then good output resolutions are: 640x480, 960x720, 1280x960, 1600x1200, 1920x1440, etc. when I launched this game for the first time, the aspect ratio was not correct: dark force is a 4:3 game and my screen is 16:9. To make screen's image to look more correct and less blurry, you need to set output monitor resolution as multiple of original game's resolution. The scaler command by itself will display the name of the active scaler. The scaler used can be changed in the nf file it can also be changed in DosBox session by using the scaler command. A Scaler is like a filter, that reprocesses the emulated screen before it is drawn on the physical monitor, and enables old games to take on a slightly updated look (or stylized look). And though it might be an interesting little project to find out I suspect that it lies. Actually, it does support raster tricks to some extent as well if wanting to go the plain VGA route though I am also somewhat doubtful as to whether is capable of pull off a vertical text/graphic mode split. SVN builds contain changes that have been made by the DOSBox developers since the latest official release. Limited hardware required these games to run on what is today considered extremely low resolutions. Dosbox emulates a number of SVGA adapters. SVN builds are versions of DOSBox that people have built from the latest version of the DOSBox source code, which is stored on in something called an SVN repository. Back in the original days of DOS, games ran on specific resolutions on CRT monitors (and occasionally televisions). go to dosbox installation directory (on my machine that is C:Program Files (x86)DOSBox-0.74 ) as you see the version number is part of the installation directory name.
